Privacy Policy — forum.x-tool.org
1. Data Controller
The controller of your personal data is the operator of the x-tool.org website (the "Administrator"). Contact: support@x-tool.org. The Administrator reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy. All users of the Forum are bound by its current version. Any changes will not affect the fundamental principle: the Administrator does not sell and does not share user data with third parties for marketing purposes.
2. Scope of the Forum
Access to the content of the Forum requires registration and logging in. Guests can only see the login and registration pages. Registration is voluntary; however, without registration it is not possible to use the Forum.
3. Data collected during registration
During registration the following information is required:
• username (it does not have to and should not be your real name),
• password (stored in encrypted, hashed form),
• e-mail address (used for account activation and password recovery),
• serial number (SN) of your X-Tool device — used solely to verify that you own an X-Tool device and, together with the activation code generated by the X-Tool software, to grant posting rights. The serial number is visible only to the Forum administration and is never displayed publicly or shared with third parties.
4. Other data processed automatically
• Server logs: queries sent to the server (including your IP address, date and time) are saved in server logs. This data is not used to identify users.
• IP addresses of posts: the forum software (phpBB) stores the IP address from which each post was submitted, exclusively for moderation and security purposes.
• Cookies and local storage: the Forum uses only functional cookies necessary for its proper operation (session identification, user settings) and the browser local storage (e.g. light/dark theme preference). No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are used.
5. Purposes and legal basis of processing (GDPR)
Your data is processed only for the purposes for which it was collected:
• to create and maintain your account and enable you to use the Forum — based on your consent expressed by registering (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR),
• to verify posting rights by means of the device serial number and activation code — based on the legitimate interest of the Administrator in restricting posting to verified device owners (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR),
• for backup and security purposes — based on the legitimate interest of the Administrator (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
6. Data retention
Data is processed for as long as your account exists on the Forum. Data of deleted accounts may remain in backup copies until those backups are rotated.
7. Data recipients and transfers
Data may be disclosed only to entities processing it on behalf of the Administrator — in particular the hosting provider (A2 Hosting, Inc., USA) — solely under a data processing agreement. As the servers are located in the United States, data is transferred outside the European Economic Area; the transfer is safeguarded by the mechanisms provided for in Chapter V of the GDPR.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your data; rectify it; request its erasure ("right to be forgotten", implemented as account deletion or anonymisation); request restriction of processing; withdraw consent at any time; lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Poland: UODO).
All requests should be sent to: support@x-tool.org.
